Why Choose PartyPoker?

Since PartyPoker merged with bwin in 2011 and underwent a redesign, the site has been trying to claw back players. It still lags behind bigger rivals, but with new software and partnerships with WPT and Dusk Till Dawn in place, things are looking up. The cash games and Sit 'n Go's are pretty soft, especially at the lower levels, and the promotions are better than ever.

Welcome Bonus

Currently, PartyPoker offers £20 to new players signing up to their website. The £20 is actually to play on the room's 'Casual Cash Games'.

Bonuses and Promotions

Bonuses aren't PartyPoker's strong point and never have been. However, depending on the time of year there are some interesting promotions.

The 'Cobra £100l Guaranteed' gives players the chance to play a tournament against UK boxing hero, Carl Froch. There's also an added bounty on a host of celebrity players.

PartyPoker puts a big emphasis on 'Achievements'. Missions and bragging rights are the buzz phrases at the moment, and PartyPoker awards special shields and badges if you hit certain targets. There are even monthly promotions that reward the players with the most Achievements.

The site's loyalty programme was revamped in 2015 and features increased exchange rates for players wanting to turn player points into cash. VIP players also earn entries into exclusive freerolls and tokens into big events like the £500,000 guaranteed.

PartyPoker has an excellent download client for Windows and Mac, plus a pretty solid HTML5-based instant-play option. Mobile customers can also download apps for iOS and Android.

The site's entire look was given a spring clean a few years ago. Gone is the old, tired interface (although nostalgic grinders can switch back to the original look if they want) and in comes a slick new way of navigating the site.

There's a new 'Overview' tab where can see the tournaments you're registered in, plus stats on any recent cash games. Your "Mission" status shows how well you are progressing with your Achievements, a new feature of the site.

Customer Support

There's a 24/7 Customer Service team on call at PartyPoker. Even though it's the dreaded 'info@....' email that always never seems to get answered, the site is pretty good at responding to queries. There's even a dedicated Cashier team who can answer any deposit-related questions.

Contact can also be made via Live Chat (helpful) and telephone (also very helpful) from the United Kingdom.

Cash Games

If you're looking for soft cash games at the micro-stakes, PartyPoker is the place to come. Games are most popular at the lower £0.25/0.50 levels and below, but as with Sit n' Go's (see below) you won't be multi-tabling 16 tables in one go with the kind of traffic Party has.

PartyPoker's own 'fast-fold' cash games, fast-forward, is available in a range of stakes. There's even a special fast-forward app for mobile players. British mobile players can also play cash games direct through their phone's browser.

As a Casual Cash Game player, you can't load up an additional cash table, although you're free to play Sit 'n Go's and tournaments. The Casual games are clearly marked in the lobby with a smiley face next to them.

So far, the site says, Casual Cash Games are open only at the lower limits but look set to open at higher stakes soon. It's certainly a move, familiar at other sites, to attract recreational players who want to steer clear of grinders.

Tournaments and Sit 'n Go's

PartyPoker boasts over 250 tournaments a week and over £1.5 million in guaranteed tournament prize money as part of its 'Power Series'. Buy-ins range from £2.20 to £1,000.

On a more regular scale, the Sit 'n Go's can be fun, especially at the £20 level, but don't expect too many opportunities to multi-table.

PartyPoker's recent tie-ups with the World Poker Tour and the UK's biggest cardroom, Dusk till Dawn, mean there are some exclusive qualifiers running on-site.

You can qualify for some WPT events with handy Steps-style satellites, while DTD customers can play online festivals and qualifiers via the Party site. The highlight at DTD, run throughout the year, is the Grand Prix Poker Tour which guarantees £2,500,000 in prize money over 12 months. Online Day 1s and qualifiers can be found in the Party lobby.
